Rode the bike to work today.
Very chilly morning and actually had to stop about a third of the way there and put my gloves on!
As I got into Owensboro, I realized I left the key in the saddle bag on the left side I had been riding almost all the way there with the lid opened!!!
Oh well.....surprised my blinker wasn't on too!
Anyway, the trip home was warmer but MUCH more windy.
Strong wind gusts moved the bike all over the road!
Good ride though. Can't wait to have really good warm days soon!

First Day of Spring ride.
Well, today was the first day of spring and we had a great ride today.
Even with several people complaining about the start time (1:00PM) we still had a good turnout.
Some complained that their church didn't get out till close to 1:00PM.
As bad as I hate to say this, if we had tried to have it later, we would have probably lost more people that wanted to go because we would be leaving TOO late then...
So, other than myself, this group consisted of...
Darwin and Mary, Edith Whitaker, Jerry Hughes, James Lutz, John and Rhonda Gibson, Their daughter Aubri and grandkid and another guy that I didn't know and Tommy and Alice Carr, and Cindy and Keith Harris...
This was Edith's second time on the back of a bike and she is wanting to buy herself her own bike. So this ride gave her the experience of the curves, wind and speed and She did REALLY well today. Tense at first but by the end of the ride she was really getting use to all the attributes of riding.
We rode to Cheddars in Owensboro via Brown Road to Sacramento to Buttonsberry to Island to Owensboro.
Coming back Darwin took the lead and we went through Calhoun and Rumsey and Slaughters.
About 110 miles +-.
Already looking forward to the next ride!!!!

Thursday ride.
I worked from 7:30 Wednesday morning until I got home at 5:30 AM Thursday morning,
We had to do a data migration at work on our new database server so it took a while to reconnect all the workstations to the software.
I went to bed around 5:30 and woke up once around 7:30, back to bed a few minutes after that, Woke back up around 9:30 and then back to sleep about an hour later.
Then I didn't wake up until 2:30PM!
After I saw how nice it was outside, I decided to get my bike out. So I rode to Cracker Barrel to eat and then out to the city park for a quick circle to see a TON of people out there. I guess it was close to 4 PM.
Then I went to moms for about an hour or so and then back home.
On a side note, Pastor Phil Sullivan had a pretty bad wreck wednesday afternoon.
He was in a line of other bikers in a funeral procession on their way to Hartford in order to bury another friend of ours, Steve Ayer, that had just passed away from a long fight with Cancer.
Seems the Hearse was traveling on the parkway at a speed exceeding 80 MPH...
The vehicles in front started slowing down really fast to get off at the exit and evidently, Phil hit the car in front of him that slammed on it's breaks...
Phil suffered a broken collar bone, broken jaw and 2 broken toes and numerous raspberry marks.
The hearse driver should be held accountable.... that had to be the fastest funeral procession in history... But, that was the way Steve normally RODE his bike!
bike is a mess

short ride
Couple of weeks ago, when I rode to Owensboro, I noticed a gurgling noise when I stopped.
So I decided I had better add some anti-freeze to the bike.
I did that and since it was such a nice day I took it for a ride.
Just rode to Earlington and back to make sure I didn't hear the noises.
It was a nice short ride and well needed!

Cheddars--Owensboro
Rode the bike today since it was almost 70 degrees.
I had looked at a house to buy in the Buck Creek area south of Owensboro.
The house looked good outside and with the exception of a few minor cosmetic issues, would have been a nice house. The pictures of the inside looked good too.
I was ready to call my Realtor and just about the time I rode off, I noticed CHICKEN HOUSES!!!
That was a deal breaker right then!
So, I rode on to Owensboro and went to Cheddars to eat.
I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie.
Man that thing was SCORCHING HOT!
After eating, I got back on the bike and headed home.
It was just about 4 or 5 minutes later, I started getting sick to my stomach.
My mouth was watering bad and had that feeling I was fixin to have a protein discharge.... (kind way of saying PUKE)...
I started riding real slow and took back roads as to avoid traffic in case I had to stop rapidly,
I really couldn't stand the wind hitting my face that hard at that time either.
Anyway, by the time I made it home, I was feeling somewhat better. I was still feeling pretty bad the next day though.
I wanted to stop and pull over but I knew if I did, I would have slung chow....
If I had done that, I'm not sure I would have been able to ride the bike back home that far.
I really need to start finding someone to ride with.
I posted it on facebook but no one wanted to go that far....

New Years Day ride 2011
Got the bike out intending on riding with some others on New Years day.
We were supposed to meet at Ponderosa and eat and ride after wards and it was even mentioned we may ride first and then eat.
I arrived at Ponderosa and there were about 5 other bikes there.
Stood in parking lot and waited for others to show up and we realized there were several others inside already eating!
They rode in Cages!!
Of course, they had an excuse... It was COLD and they lived further off!!!!
I don't blame them, it WAS COLD.
I was glad when they decided we were not riding after the meal because I was starting a new job two days later and really didn't want to take the risk of catching cold or getting sick from it.
Anyway, at least I can say I DID ride on New Years Day again this year... 4 years in a row!
